Smoking Cessation: How Many Sessions will it Take?

Sharing is caring!

UPDATE: September 1, 2018 – I now offer a one session stop smoking/chewing/vaping program with a Lifetime Support.

Every smoker who calls or comes in for a no charge consultation asks me, “How many sessions will it take?”

The best answer I have is based on each individuals smoking profile.

Many, many people who are ready, ready, ready and can’t wait to be smoke-free have stopped smoking in one power-packed session. (I spend about 2 – 2 1/2 hours with these clients.)  This past winter a musician who plays in smokey clubs and bars came in. His motivation was incredibly strong and he was confident that he would be successful with one session. And, he was. A few weeks later his girlfriend called to say how amazed she was with his success and she booked a series of weight reduction sessions.

For others, it may take two and sometimes three sessions.

Often I accept clients with major medical challenges who have been told by their doctor that they have to stop. Even though their health is suffering they know they should quit but just haven’t been able to do so in the past. They begin the program somewhat reluctantly as they still have a fondness for their smokes. I start them out with a program of  gradually cutting back and picking a special day to be their “Stop Smoking Day.” When the Stop Smoking Day arrives I guide them  into a long hypnosis session where they disconnect all of the links and triggers to their old habit. That’s when they walk out of the office smiling with confidence they they are finally free. I have these folks come back in a few days later to reinforce all their new learning and to increase their comfort with being a contented, permanent non-smoker.

There is no out-of-the-box program that works for every smoker.

I spend a lot of time conversing with every client to make certain their needs are being met. From time-to-time I’ll add Parts Hypnosis or Regression Hypnosis to help clients move beyond other issues that block their success.

The goal is to help those who want to move beyond their smoking habit to become comfortable with their new healthier lifestyle free of tobacco.
