Have you seen the PBS special with Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D? What a story! It has absolutely nothing to do with hypnosis, but it is a compelling story none-the-less.
I caught just a snatch of Dr. Taylor speaking about her stroke late one night when I was flipping channels. She is a Harvard brain scientist who experienced a massive stroke and observed her mind deteriorate from the inside. I had to read her book and I’m glad I did.
Taylor is an amazing woman and tells a riveting story about her stroke – at age 37 – and her years of recovery.
One of the reasons I’m telling you about this book is because chapters 2 and 3 are really interesting to anyone curious about learning more on how their minds work. The diagrams are really good and she explains in basic down-home language what each part of the brain does. It was easy to follow and understand.
The book is titled “My Stroke of Insight” by Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor and I highly recommend it as a fascinating read.
